Why People Focus Too Much on Language
I notice that many people are happy just trying to learn and copy the way others speak English. That is not my main goal anymore. For me, what matters is not the language itself but how I use it.
Shifting My Focus to Communication Style
Instead of chasing perfect English, I’m working on my communication style. I want to be clear, effective, and adaptable in every situation, no matter who I’m talking to. That’s the skill that pays off.
Choosing Words for the Right Context
The way I speak with my teammates is different from how I speak with stakeholders or a VP. The words, tone, and style change with the audience. Learning this difference makes me more effective.
Why Vocabulary Depth Matters
I’m also deepening my vocabulary. Simple changes like replacing “good” with “great” or using a word that better matches the context make a big difference. It’s not about fancy words, it’s about accurate words.
Communication Beyond Language
To me, communication goes beyond English or French or any single language. It’s about adjusting your approach to the situation and the person. That applies across all cultures and languages.
Why This Is More Valuable
You won’t speak casually to your boss the same way you do with a friend. Adapting your communication style is more valuable than just mastering one language. That’s the real skill I’m working on.
