Every discussion About Free Will Leads to Spirituality

No matter where you start free will, gratitude, or existence the conversation always ends up touching spirituality. Try it yourself and see where it goes.

Outline

  • Thinking about free will and how little control we have
  • How awareness of this leads to gratitude
  • Why such thoughts often lead to religion or spirituality
  • Belief doesn’t matter the conversation always ends there
  • A challenge to test this with others

It Always Starts With Free Will

Whenever I find myself thinking about free will, I end up realizing how limited it really is. We love the idea of being in control, but most of what happens to us is far beyond that. It’s humbling once you see it clearly.

Powerlessness Leads to Gratitude

The more I think about how little I can truly control, the more grateful I become. Gratitude feels like the natural response once you accept your limits. You start to see how much of life is simply given to you.

Religion Becomes the Destination

From that point, it doesn’t matter what you believe in. Conversations that start with free will, purpose, or the nature of existence almost always end up in religion or spirituality. It’s like there’s no other way around it.

Try It Yourself

Next time you’re with friends or family, bring up the idea of free will. See where the conversation goes. If it doesn’t land somewhere spiritual, come back and tell me because so far, it always does for me.
